Family travelers looking to get in the holiday spirit might want to check out these gingerbread houses around the United States. From life-sized houses to museum-quality displays, these destinations offer some of the most jaw-dropping gingerbread creations.
The award-winning pastry team at Plant Riverside District in Savannah, Georgia, unveils its stunning gingerbread display Nov. 28. The display takes the team multiple months to create. This year’s design calls for more than 40 pounds of sugar, 300 pounds of gingerbread, 250 pounds of candy, 120 quarts of icing, 50 pounds of modeling chocolate and 150 pounds of chocolate.
Omni Grove Park Inn and Spa in Asheville, North Carolina, hosts a National Gingerbread House Competition featuring unique, edible creations made of at least 75 percent gingerbread. Competitors can enter different age categories and win more than $40,000 in cash and prizes. Once judging is complete, travelers can see the displays from mid-November to early January.
Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, can visit multiple hotels around the property that feature elaborate gingerbread displays created by excellent pastry teams. Some of the must-sees include the display at Disney’s Grand Floridian, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney Contemporary Resort.
Located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Peddler’s Village offers free viewing of more than 100 locally created gingerbread displays. The village is also decked out in Christmas lights and features other holiday fun throughout the season.
Head to Hudson Valley, New York’s, Annual Gingerbread Competition, an event featuring dozens of displays, creative themes and a judging.
Greenville Gingerbread Holiday Exhibit
Located in Greenville, South Carolina, the Gingerbread Holiday Exhibit features creations from local and amateur bakers. Houses are on display through the month of December.
Museum of the City of New York
Through Jan. 19, visitors to Museum of the City of New York can view the Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off 2025 exhibition. The event features amateur and professional gingerbread creations of iconic buildings, landmarks and symbols from New York’s famous boroughs.
Springfield Museums will feature Jurassic Gingerbread, Nov. 28–Dec. 31. Local bakers create holiday creations with the theme of dinosaurs and pop culture.
The lobby of Fairmont San Francisco will feature a life-sized Victorian gingerbread house in the lobby for guests, travelers and locals alike.
Inside Hotel Bennett’s lobby, guests can marvel at a larger-than-life display of large quantities of sweets and gingerbread.
