In addition to the rugged beauty of the landscape, it is home to the famous Church of Panagia Evangelistria (Our Lady of Good Tidings), drawing visitors year-round to its massive steps in hopes of receiving a miracle. The island, located just a short ferry ride from Athens, is steeped in history and local lore and hosts festivals throughout the year.
