Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival
Taking place in Augusta, Georgia, Arts in the Heart festival celebrates the city’s diversity and culture. Sept. 15–17, the festival highlights art and cuisine from more than 20 countries. More than 80,000 people attend the event each year to experience international fare, a market and five stages of live entertainment.
Held in Blairsville, Georgia, the 52nd annual festival celebrates the art of creating the sweet syrup. The event takes place the second and third weekends in October, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., in Meeks Park. Take part in sorghum syrup-making demonstrations, live music, contests, shopping and more.
Visit Dahlonega, Georgia, Oct. 21 –22 for Gold Rush Days Festival. The town is one of the country’s first Gold Rush towns. The free festival celebrates Dahlonega’s rich history with arts and crafts vendors, a parade, children’s activities, square dancing, food, live music and gold panning.
Head to Beech Mountain, North Carolina, for the annual kite-focused festival. This year’s event takes place Sept. 3, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Watch kite-flying demonstrations from pros and take part in family-friendly contests and activities. Free kites are available for children while supplies last.
Take part in the 42nd annual festival in North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands. Held Oct. 21–22, the event features oyster tastings, a shucking contest, oyster-eating competition, live music, crafts, children’s activities and more.
