Parents with school-aged children know the frustration of having to time vacations around school breaks, when accommodations are scarce and prices soar. This spring, Keystone Resort in Colorado is easing the process with new accommodation options you and the kids can enjoy all season.
The new River Run Townhomes, for example, opened this season across from River Run Village. Designed for extended families, the townhomes offer three or four bedrooms; a large living room with a fireplace; a second, smaller living room; and several balconies. The property is located at a bus stop with access to a heated, outdoor pool and hot tubs, shopping, dining and activities.
Or play Wild West at Ski Tip Lodge, a nine-room B&B located in a historical building that used to be a stagecoach stop in the 1800s. Over the years it became the home of the Dercum family, Keystone Resort’s founders, and now operates as a cozy lodge. The property underwent a renovation in 2018, elevating both the guestrooms and the restaurant, regarded as one of the best in the area. The lodge works best for smaller families, and the restaurant is geared toward adults and older children who appreciate fine dining — and don’t mind paying for it.
Hyatt Place Keystone opened at the start of the 2017/18 ski season and is the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Keystone. There are 103 rooms in all, including suites with two bathrooms, in-room mini-fridges and separate seating areas, and hotel amenities include free WiFi, food available 24/7 — including a sit-down restaurant, a coffee bar and a grab-and-go market — and a fitness center.
Oh, and did we mention skiing? Keystone offers about 3,000 acres of terrain, from novice to expert, on three peaks with night skiing and multilevel ski classes for you and the mini-skiers in the group.
