Destinations / North America

With kids back in school and the grueling temperatures of summer finally behind us, life is starting to get back into the routine of fall. That doesn’t mean, however, that family fun has to stop. Big international trips may not be practical for all family travelers this time of year, but places like South County in Rhode Island offer so many fun things to do for families, a quick trip to this East Coast haven is practically a must.

Next month, the fall fun really gets into swing with events taking full advantage of the season like the Alien Invasion Corn Maze at Clark Farms. Now that the corn of summer has been harvested, the remaining stalks are being transformed into an alien-themed attraction, giving the family a chance to get outside, enjoy the fresh fall air and work together to find their way through the maze. This event runs through the end of October.

The first weekend of October also gives families an interesting way to enjoy the area’s beautiful coast with the annual Atlantis Rising Sand Sculpture Contest. Held over Columbus Day weekend at Misquamicut State Beach, the event will be accompanied by food and merchandise vendors, live music and kid-friendly activities every day. Not only can your family enjoy some good old-fashioned fair fun over a holiday weekend, but you can also get the kids inspired with the incredible sand artwork created by sculptors from around the world competing in this event.

Pair these great fall events with all of South County’s regular family fun attractions like visiting a local alpaca farm or the Living Sharks Museum, and you have a can’t miss family-getaway with something for everyone.

United Airlines Celebrates its First Class of United Aviate Graduates
