Cruise lines constantly up their games — adding new and bigger ships to their fleets; more innovative activities to keeps guests engaged while they’re on board; and developing dining options that appeal to kids and foodies alike. Another way the cruise lines up their games is by adding new ports of calls to their itineraries. Here, we take a look at some that make their debut in 2018.
With the debut of Symphony of the Seas this month, Royal Caribbean introduces its European sailing guests to Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. Once on land, cruisers aboard Symphony of the Seas can expect to find lakes, waterfalls and rising peaks that await adventure and exploration.
This summer, Disney Cruise Line sails into Italy and Ireland for the first time, adding Genoa (Milan) and Cork to its itineraries. The cruise line is also ready to welcome its guests to Barcelona and Rome on the same cruise, also for the first time. Disney’s first-ever seven-night Bristol Isles cruise will stop in Dublin; Greenock, Scotland; and Liverpool, England, in addition to Cork. In the summer of 2019, Disney cruise ships will sail to seven new ports in Europe: Gothenburg and Nynashamn (Stockholm), Sweden; Toulon (Provence) and Brest, France; Cartagena, Spain; Fredericia, Denmark; and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Carnival Cruise Line increases its presence in Mexico with the announcement of a port development project in Ensenada, much to the delight of cruisers traveling from the West Coast.
Skagen, Denmark, will be visited for the first time this year by Princess Cruises, and the cruise line also offers new 12-day British Isles cruises aboard the Royal Princess.
With so many options, it may be hard to choose which cruise is right for you, but won’t it be fun to figure it out?
