Hotels

Family travelers with children with autism understand the travel process can be overload for their family members on the spectrum. As Autism Acceptance Month begins this month, here’s a closer look at the latest inclusive offerings from Beaches Resorts and its industry-leading, autism-friendly programs.

IBCCES Certification

Beaches was the first resort company in the world to complete the rigorous IBCCES training and Autism Certification, ensuring its staff can meet the needs of children with autism and other special needs and allowing all families to enjoy a memorable and relaxing vacation.

Beaches Buddies

Guests seeking additional support can access one-on-one Beaches Buddies, accredited by IBCCES, for personalized assistance during any point of the entire stay, available at an additional cost.

The Beaches Buddy service offers a specially trained team member dedicated to your child. Whether for a few hours or throughout your stay, your Beaches Buddy can accompany your child in activities or spend time together in a sensory-friendly setting of your choice.

Beaches Resorts currently features a special offer: Book four or more nights and receive a complimentary Beaches Buddy Experience for travel from Aug. 22 to Nov. 2.

Special Services Team

Beaches’ Special Services Team, certified by IBCCES, can be reached via dedicated toll-free hotline during the vacation planning phase to receive tailored recommendations, arrangements for specialized cleaning products to address sensitivities, advice on airport transportation options and more.

Treasure Beach Village

Beaches Turks & Caicos debuted its newest village, Treasure Beach Village, last month. The 101-key addition brings new two-, three- and four-bedroom suites and villas perfect for families. The common area also features a pool, cinema and six dining concepts.

Kids Camp

Beaches offers the Caribbean’s first autism-friendly kids camps at no extra cost; staff undergo a minimum 40 hours of autism sensitivity training.

Sesame Street

Beaches welcomes Julia, a sweet and curious 4-year-old Sesame Street character with autism, with an engaging activity called Amazing Art with Julia and other character experiences.

Sensory-Friendly Accommodations

Beaches features various multibedroom accommodations with high-level amenities, like butler service, full kitchens and private pools, so guests can limit exposure to high-sensory areas.

Scuba Program

Beaches’ all-inclusive offerings include the scuba diving program, which offers courses for people on the spectrum.

Autism Inclusion Week

Beaches hosted its first Autism Inclusion Week at Beaches Ocho Rios in October 2023, filled with events and activities for children on the autism spectrum and their families. The event returns Oct. 19–23 at Beaches Turks & Caicos.
