In Central Oregon, at Crescent Moon Ranch in the city of Terrebonne, you can pay a visit to these fluffy, gentle creatures at a working alpaca farm. While the owners of the ranch raise alpacas for show, breeding and sale, visitors can walk the farm from pen to pen to feed the alpacas. While you can’t go in the pens, they will run to the fence, eager to get a few bites of the food pellets available for purchase at the on-site shop. The trick is making sure every animal gets a share of the food instead of just the bullies trying to hog the spotlight.
