Disney Cruise Lines brings back two family-friendly sailing experiences, with Star Wars Day at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea in 2020. The experiences will take place on Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic cruises to the Caribbean and Bahamas, during seven- and five-night itineraries.
The Star Wars Day at Sea takes place during Disney Fantasy sailings, January through March 2020. Expect appearances from all your favorite Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2. The full day at sea includes live shows, family and kids’ activities, special merchandise and food and beverage offerings. A Summon the Force deck party wraps everything up with a fireworks show.
There are only nine chances to catch the Star Wars Day at Sea. To experience it for yourself, book one of these seven-night Caribbean cruises embarking from Port Canaveral, Florida: Disney’s eastern Caribbean itinerary departing Jan. 11, Jan. 25 and Feb. 22, with stops in Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay; Disney’s eastern Caribbean itinerary departing Feb. 8, with stops in Tortola, San Juan and Castaway Cay; or Disney’s western Caribbean itinerary departing Jan. 4, Jan. 18, Feb. 1, Feb. 15 and Feb. 29, with stops in Cozumel, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Castaway Cay.
If your family is more into Marvel than the Force, make sure you catch one of the select cruises offering a Marvel Day at Sea. These special days take place during five-night Disney Magic sailings in the Caribbean and Bahamas, with days focused on all-things Marvel, from the comics and animated series to the beloved films. You’ll spot all your favorite superheroes, including Captain Marvel, Captain America, Spider-Man and Iron Man. There are live shows, a deck show, kids’ and family activities and lots of merchandise and food offerings.

Zermatt’s colorful ski boutique-lined Bahnhofstrasse, stylish apartment-style lodgings of every description and views of the Matterhorn from every angle make up one of Europe’s most family-friendly destinations — and it certainly does not hurt that it is proclaimed the “world’s best ski resort” by organizations like SnowOnline.com year after year. During the warmer months, meanwhile, you will see many family groups with kids strolling the shopping streets (sometimes alongside a herd of about 50 free-range Valais Blackneck goats around 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.), enjoying fondue and pizza at nearby cafés, and taking advantage of the many hiking and bike trails.
In a recent survey by Orbitz, 63 percent of millennial travelers said the hotel amenity they'd like to see more of is plants in hotel rooms. The same number said they seek plant-filled spaces and activities on vacation, including parks and botanical gardens.
