North America

The first female-led Medieval Times show comes to Atlanta this fall and winter, bringing with it live entertainment, rustic dining and adventure. The show has always been a fun time for families, fans of theatrics, history buffs and kids of all ages.

For those familiar with the show, you may be interested to hear Atlanta’s is the first queen-led kingdom of Medieval Times in its 35-year history.

Announced back in 2017, Medieval Times replaced the lead role, typically a king, with a female Queen character, making her way through eight castles throughout the United States and Canada, ending the tour in Atlanta.

Not familiar with the family-fun, medieval-themed tradition? Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament began in 1977 in Spain, later brought to the United States and Canada in 1983. Now boasting nine castles across North America, Medieval Times, as we know it today, played and fed 65 million guests to date.

Guests come for the medieval fanfare, and impeccably synchronized performances, including jousting, horsemanship, swordplay and knights fighting for honor — all while digging into a hot, four-course meal. Not only is the meal more of a feast, but it also must be devoured by hand as eating utensils are not quite Medieval Times’ style.

Even if you have seen a Medieval Times show before, this one is different. The cast, script and events change with more than 700 new costumes across all castles. The all-new costumes include updated helmets, suits of armor and shields. Oh, and the Queen lead.

Along with the jousting, fighting and royal entertainment, the audience enjoys a high-level music score in the background, transporting viewers to the scene of a film in another space entirely. Considering the showmanship alone, with all the fight choreography, entrances, storyline and costume design, Medieval Times is a production to impress even the greatest history buffs in your family.

While the theme may be set centuries back in time, the story is incredible timely. Bring the kids and join in the fun, watching her Majesty Dona Maria Isabella take the throne in Atlanta. General admission tickets range $37–55 for children and adults respectively, with add-ons and VIP upgrades available for an additional $12–22, per ticket.

Other castles include Baltimore, Maryland; Buena Park, California; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Lyndhurst, New Jersey; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Orlando, Florida; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Toronto, Ontario. Ticket prices range by castle and group packages, parties and special events can be arranged online.
