Want to plan the ultimate family trip but not sure where to go? Vacation rental marketplace floridarentals.com analyzed Google searches for each state on vacation packages, rentals and hot spots to determine the most popular state for a vacation.
According to the study, Florida ranks as the most popular state for a vacation. The Sunshine State on average receives 155,110 searches from vacation-goers every single month. In addition to visitors from other states, more than 10 million international travelers visit Florida each year.
Hawai’i takes second place on the list, with an average of 125,590 monthly searches for vacations. A previous study from Hawai’i Tourism Authority found tourist spending in the state brought in more than $17 billion a year, which helped support more than 216,000 jobs.
Coming in third, California averages about 30,680 searches a month. Visitation to the state consistently increases each year, up 22 percent in 2022 from previous years. The state is predicted to increase in visitors by 8 percent in 2023.
Colorado comes in fourth with 29,840 average vacation searches every month. A recent study from the Colorado Tourism Office found tourism saves Colorado households $670 annually in taxes.
