Visiting LEGOLAND is something of a must for families visiting Southern California. The park has its own hotels just outside the gates, but as much fun as Lego-themed everything is for the kids, it can also be, well, a lot for the parents. If you would like something a little less overstimulating with a major dose of coastal charm, book your stay at Hotel Solea, a Marriott Bonvoy Autograph Collection property recently reopened after a massive renovation.
The property is so close to LEGOLAND, you’ll have special access to a private park entrance, a perk which takes a ton of stress out of your visit. All you have to do is walk along the path (no extra driving or parking needed). You’ll need to pick up a private entrance pass from the front desk at Hotel Solea.

There are plenty of other perks to staying at Hotel Solea as well, like complimentary shuttle service that can take you anywhere within a 5-mile radius, so you can explore Carlsbad itself. There are incredible culinary options, more unique shops than you’ll know what to do with and plenty of amazing beaches.
The hotel’s pool is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a long hot day at Legoland, especially as the day comes to a close and the sun sets in the distance. The property has sweeping views of Carlsbad and the Pacific Ocean, and the pool is one of the best places to experience sunset. (Insider tip: As a guest at Hotel Solea, you also get free access to the pools at neighboring hotels, Westin and MarBrisa — and Mar Brista’s pool has a water slide kiddos will love.)

Next to the pool is Verise, the hotel’s signature restaurant serving Italian-influenced California cuisine. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering craft cocktails (including delicious mocktails!), great wines and seasonal dishes — you won’t want to skip the Polpette Al Sugo, a dish of wood-fired, roasted meatballs that take the chef two days to prepare.
Hotel Solea’s atmosphere has the laid-back charm you expect from a California coastal town paired with the high-quality service and amenities Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection never fails to deliver. Paired with the fun and action of the LEGOLAND theme park right next door, you can’t go wrong with planning a family trip to Carlsbad.
