This summer, micro-cruise specialist Secret Atlas launches Private Expeditions to the Arctic, an adventure designed entirely around experiences for multigen families wanting a ship entirely to themselves. The new journey, available from May to September, lets families sail to Svalbard, Greenland and Northern Norway on one of four expedition-style ships with Secret Atlas.
With just 12 guests onboard, families will enjoy exclusive use of the ship and freedom to shape each day around their own interests. Ships range from classic to luxury, including en-suite cabins and large lounges. Itineraries can be from four-day expeditions to 15-day voyages, all departing this summer and winter dependent on the destination.
The experience offers families a more immersive alternative to larger ships, from tracing the paths of legendary polar explorers to enjoying an Arctic wildlife safari to learning in the field about different types of ice features. Families with children ranging from young teens and upwards will witness massive icebergs, polar bears, walruses and local cultures in the Arctic.
Prefer to join a scheduled departure? Secret Atlas also offers family-friendly Expedition Micro Cruises. These small-group trips bring a more educational dimension to Arctic travel, giving children and teenagers the chance to learn directly from expert guides about wildlife, glaciers, sea ice, polar history and local culture.
