If life were a city, it’d be Madrid. Sometimes it can be quite the challenge to find a destination just right for the whole family. Different tastes and ages make agreeing on where to go seem impossible. Unless, of course, the destination you have in mind is Madrid. With all of its new immersive museums, musicals, soccer stadiums and monuments like Royal Palace, anyone who suggests coming to the capital is sure to get a unanimous yes!
Museums
While we’re on the subject, let’s not forget the under-18s can get into the top museums on Madrid’s Paseo del Arte (Art Walk) for free. These include the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and Reina Sofía Museum. On the other hand, several new immersive experiences are carving out a niche for themselves in Madrid’s ever-growing list of things to do. One of the latest to open its doors is Light Art Museum, which offers 13 different spaces full of interactive installations, light projections and digital landscapes. Before this, Gran Vía avenue witnessed the opening of NOMAD — with its spectacular, large-scale and moving immersive art projections — and the city also welcomed MAD Madrid Artes Digitales in the cultural space Matadero Madrid.

Football
How many in the family like soccer? Tour Bernabéu or a visit to Cívitas Metropolitano are absolute musts. Just seeing these two stadiums from the outside is worth it — especially if you’re a Real Madrid or Atlético de Madrid fan, of course! If so, then you’ll really enjoy visiting their home grounds, both of which offer a wide range of experiences, from exploring the locker rooms and trophy room to stepping out onto the pitch.

There’s another must for soccer enthusiasts in Madrid: Legends. The Home of Football. There’s really no other museum quite like it anywhere else in the world, thanks to its collection of around 5,000 objects related to the history of the king of all sports. Soccer fans will just love it!
Fun Guaranteed
Parque de Atracciones is a classic amusement park that never goes out of style. It’s located in the spectacular natural surroundings of Casa de Campo Park, a huge inner-city wooded area, also home to Madrid Zoo-Aquarium, a firm favorite with younger kids. Another option, just a few kilometers outside the city, is Parque Warner theme park, where you can spend a day in the company of DC’s superheroes, the Looney Tunes gang and Road Runner!
A Green City Packed with Monuments
To continue with the capital’s cultural offering, a family visit to Royal Palace is not to be missed — no one’s going to come away anything less than amazed. Its simply sumptuous rooms, Royal Armory, Royal Kitchen and Campo del Moro Park will whisk you back in time to experience what it was like to live in a palace centuries ago.

No matter your age, it’s impossible to be bored in Madrid! And if we add to all this the capital’s endless number of restaurants and how easy and safe it is to stroll around, then it’s no wonder Madrid is a destination you’ll want to return to time and time again — especially with the family.

Jan 8, 2026What is a Salvaged Stay and How to Plan One
Salvaged stays are an emerging trend in travel that let family travelers enjoy a unique way to experience a destination. Rather than staying in a destination’s big-ticket resort hotel or a cookie-cutter vacation rental, travelers look to the world’s repurposed properties, like abandoned mills and defunct train stations-turned-hotels that have found new life. These renovated properties are a lesson in sustainability and give families a chance to discover a unique view of the history of a destination.
