Blue Ridge Parkway Reopens, Turns 90
From Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of America’s most beloved and scenic routes. This year, the road celebrates its 90th birthday, and the entire parkway reopens by the end of this year following Hurricane Helene in 2024. The route traverses through Mount Mitchell, Folk Arts Center, Craggy Gardens and more.
New Restaurants, Hotels
Asheville’s River Arts District welcomes new restaurants, galleries and even hotels. Butterpunk makes its debut, serving decadent biscuits and a unique caramel miso latte. Artful Way Hotel opened this past March, featuring artwork by local artists, while RAD Rendezvous just opened its new welcome center, allowing visitors to explore works by more than 40 artists.

Blooms and Outdoor Activities at Biltmore Estate
Biltmore Estate erupts into vibrant colors with its spring tulips in bloom. The whole family can also take part in guided bird walks, falconry, horseback riding and more. Antler Hill Village Creamery is a must for sweet treats. And, for adults, be sure to sip wine at Biltmore Winery. One of the estate’s most anticipated new events is its nighttime art installation across the estate’s exterior, through October.
PGA Tour Returns
The PGA Tour comes to Asheville for the first time since 1942 with the first-ever Biltmore Championship (Sept. 17–20). As part of the FedExCup, this event will take place at Jack Nicklaus-designed The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, framed by Pisgah National Forest and Blue Ridge Parkway.
