Bring the family to New York’s Ithaca–Cortland region this winter for plenty of family-friendly fun.
For adventure seekers, the area offers a variety of outdoor activities. Cortland is home to three ski resorts, including Greek Peak Mountain Resort, which boasts an upgraded learning course. Snow tubing is available if that is more your speed.

Ithaca is known for its stunning waterfalls. Take a hike to visit Ithaca Falls and Taughannock Falls, both with stunning cascades that often freeze in winter for a dramatic effect. Lime Hollow Nature Center offers 12 miles of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Consider a stroll at Cornell Botanic Gardens for winter garden displays or bird watching at Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s 425-acre sanctuary.
With its location in the Finger Lakes, a visit isn’t complete without a stop at some of the area’s wine, beer and cider outposts. The winter’s off-season is perfect for exploring the tasting rooms without the usual crowds of high season.
