Whether at home or on the road, kids (and parents) have to eat. And one of the best ways to discover what a new city is all about is by sampling the local cuisine. We are lucky to live in an age when destinations take great pride in their culinary scenes and chefs are incorporating local, seasonal foods and flavors into creative and delicious dishes. With fall right around the corner, that means some really good eats, so we’ve compiled a list of some great places to make sure the family eats good and gets to savor some seasonal bites.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
If you’re planning a fall trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, head to Rusty Parrot Lodge and Spa for a taste of seasonal offerings of the Rocky Mountains. The hotel’s restaurant, Wild Sage, only uses locally sourced ingredients, so you know without a doubt you are getting the best of the season and the Rockies. With a stunning landscape for a backdrop, you can ensure the family will have great food to savor in between visits to nearby Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.
Paso Robles, California
Paso Robles may be known as wine country, but it’s a great family-friendly destination with amazing restaurants featuring some really talented chefs. If you want a dining experience pairing local seasonal ingredients with beautiful landscape and light displays, head to Sensorio. Around the venue, which features live music and sprawling light displays that perfectly complement the native landscape, you’ll find plenty of food options, from pizza to salads to plenty of local wine for mom and dad.
Bellevue, Washington
Bellevue showcases local and seasonal ingredients all year long, both in local restaurants and at many food festivals and culinary weeks happening throughout the year. In fall, introduce kids to dishes made with pumpkin, nuts, apples and pears, along with Dungeness crab, Pacific trout and fresh oysters. Come November, you can enjoy Noodle Week, a week-long celebration of all things noodles sure to incorporate the best flavors of fall in the Pacific Northwest into a variety of dishes from different cuisines.
Westerly, Rhode Island
Westerl is home to Weekapaug Inn, a great place to visit if you want to immerse your family in the coastal New England landscape. There are some great places to eat in and around Westerly, but, at Weekapaug, much of the produce is grown on site in the hotel’s geothermally heated garden, so you not only get bites that are locally grown but also specific to the season.

Sep 16, 2026On Location: Experience The Real-Life Settings of Your Favorite Films and TV Shows
Set-jetting is more than just a cute play on words. It’s a travel concept that lets you visit the real-life settings of some of your favorite movies and television shows. At one time you had to go someplace like Universal Studios in Hollywood to visit your favorite movie and television show sets. While you can still take studio tours (the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London is the place to go if you are a diehard fan of the Harry Potter franchise), these days there are filming locations all over the world, and the tourism industry makes visiting them in person as easy as buying a plane ticket.
