Lava Lava Beach Club: A Slice of Hawai’ian Paradise

Each of the cottages are individually designed and decorated with relaxed “New Island” décor, and feature a living room with a punee (Hawai’ian queen-sized day bed) for the kids, and a king-sized bed for you. A small kitchen makes fixing early-morning, lunchtime or evening snacks easy, and Kona Coffee is easily brewed in the coffeemaker to fuel you for the day. The cottages also have 40-inch LCD TVs and wireless, high-speed internet, but you’re in Hawai’i, so get outside.

The cottages’ private, covered lanais (patios) that overlook the bay are perfect for watching your kids play in the sand, or watching stunning Hawai’ian sunsets as you strum the in-cottage Koa Ukuleles made available for your enjoyment. Or, perhaps a Hawai’ian lullaby is in order to lull little ones to sleep.

When it’s time to expend some energy, don your masks and snorkels and wade into the clear water to spot sea creatures. During one visit, we spotted sea turtles skimming the coral reefs for lunchtime snacks — we could even see them from above! Another terrific perspective of the water below is from stand up paddleboards you can borrow at the cottages and launch just steps from your front door. Or, if you and your family would rather stay on land, borrow beach cruiser bikes and ride around the area to explore on your own.

Mealtime is easily taken care of right next door at the Lava Lava Beach club restaurant. The “relaxed island” menu shines the spotlight on locally sourced ingredients for light dining, or let the chefs prepare something more elaborate while at the same time incorporating the resort’s farm-to-beach philosophy.
