Luxury

Seeking history, luxury and a completely unique, tailor-made family experience? Your brood can live like royalty at a castle turned upscale villa in the heart of rural Umbria, Italy, at Le Torri di Bagnara — with luxury and history to spare.

This stunning estate boasts more than 1,500 acres of unspoiled Italian countryside, complete with a working farm and ancient farmhouse. The Tiber river runs through the property and an 18th-century church is also on display.

While this may sound like a rural oasis, it’s actually a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comforts. Between the main house, Pieve San Quirco Castle’s seven bedrooms (with en suite restrooms), 15 beds and two guest bathrooms, paired with the High Tower’s four apartments with eight bedrooms, five bathrooms and 15 beds, this venue is fit for the whole crew of friends and family.

With a team of dedicated staff included with your stay, it’s safe to say you won’t just feel at home at Le Torri di Bagnara, you’ll feel like nobility. And while the 11th-century digs may seem old-fashioned, the amenities and accommodations are completely modern. Each bedroom includes individually controlled heating and air-conditioning; luxury linen and towels; a hairdryer; Floris bath sets, including shampoo, conditioner, body soaps and more; an en suite bathroom with bathtub, rain shower or whirlpool bathtub (as is featured in the castle); shower or bathtub (located in the tower apartments); mini fridge in castle bedrooms and full kitchens in Tower apartments; safe box; WiFi; flat-screen TVs; and much more. Read the full lineup of features here.

For the leisure-seekers in the family, spend the day truffle hunting on property, strolling through olive trees and viewing wildlife before enjoying an authentic al fresco Italian meal. Experience the area of Umbria and Tuscany at your leisure with expert guidance, planned itineraries or simple self-guided exploration on your own time. The resort offers complete freedom to come and go as you please with as many activities or leisure time as you want.

Keeping the kids entertained shouldn’t be an issue with ample activities on property. The kids can play bocce, a classic Italian yard game, or climb and play on the children’s playground. The older kids can take mountain bikes on the nearby trails, or play ping pong, pool and foosball back at the castle. Need a little more variety? Parents can book cooking classes for children, treasure hunts, photo scavenger hunts, kids entertainment and parties or even yoga by booking in advance of your stay. For parents that need a little time on their own, baby-sitter services are also available through the booking service online.

Another standout of the property, beyond its sheer beauty and endless possibilities for guest experiences, is its rental property license. Only 10 percent of Italian villas and castles actually have a hotel license, making Le Torri Bagnara one of the few complying with safety and security regulations.

Adding more significance to the ancient building, it’s actually owned by descendants of Napoleon Bonaparte, enhancing its historical charm. Inquire about rates and services for more information.
