Cruising

While we wait patiently for the go-ahead to travel, Crystal Cruises offers some home-bound programming with Crystal@Home. The virtual cruise experience was created to appease the wandering traveler’s eye and inspire future vacation plans, all from the comfort of home — a growing theme in the industry, but a novel idea in the cruising world.

In our digital age, harnessing the multitude of digital and social media platforms to our advantage should be second nature, which now it can be. With the new social channel, users can connect with like-minded travelers and interact with a beloved brand through livestreaming events, conversations and much more.

Virtually voyage with Crystal@Home and sail along with weekly features showcasing different aspects of the Crystal Experience. Below is an example of a week’s programming.

Weekly schedules can be flexible, but also include events such as:

Destination of the Week: Peak in on weekly highlights, diving into select Crystal destinations. Feel like you’re there with immersive imagery, learn a bit about each port and sit back, relax and enjoy the digital journey.

Sunday Cooking with Chef Jon Ashton: Follow along on Crystal Cruises’ Facebook page for a live cooking series with Crystal guest Chef Jon Ashton. Follow along and recreate signature Crystal dishes at home, inspired by guest favorites and ingredients found in local cuisine. Novice chefs, don’t be scared, each dish is compiled of easy-to-find ingredients and methods. The first episode goes live April 5, 3 p.m. ET.

Storyteller Monday: Thanks to the Crystal Storytellers podcast — the first official cruise line podcast — would-be guests can listen along with leading world experts, celebrities, authors and a variety of notable voices.

Wellness Wednesday: You’ve seen the at-home workouts and push-up challenges, but there’s nothing quite like working out with a personal trainer. Enter Crystal Cruises’ live fitness instructors via the cruise line’s Facebook page — for those who’ve joined a class on a cruise, you may recognize some of the trainers.

Thirsty Thursday: You knew this one was coming. What’s self-quarantine without a cocktail? Follow along with recipes on the Crystal Insider blog. Create drinks for your virtual happy hour, worthy of a swanky lounge onboard a Crystal vessel.

Friday Nights at the Galaxy: A must-see, check out Crystal Cruises’ Facebook page at 6 p.m. EST to enjoy Crystal’s most-loved onboard entertainment.

Sail Away Saturday: Previous guests can take part in the sharing, showcasing favorite onboard memories, videos and images with the hashtag #CrystalFamily.

“We often say that our guests are family, and we miss our Crystal Family and we know that they miss exploring the world. Just as our guests feel at home aboard our ships, we want them to be able to enjoy their favorite elements of a Crystal vacation from their own homes,” said Carmen Roig, senior vice president of marketing and sales, Crystal Cruises. “Our guests’ interests are varied and broad, and the Crystal@Home program speaks to that individuality. It also unites us over a common love of travel and the Crystal Experience during this challenging time.”

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
