Step into a winter wonderland with family-friendly fun and activities at the 40th annual Winterlude celebration on Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada. The Canadian capitol city celebrates all things snow and ice Feb. 2–19, 2018, with ice carving competitions, snow sculptures, winter wonderland playground and themed events.
Check out the Crystal Garden in Confederation Park for photo-ops with award-winning ice sculptures and bring the kids to fan favorite Snowflake Kingdom. Located in Jacques Cartier Park, this kid-centric destination boasts epic snow slides, dogsledding, zip-line rides and a maze. The little ones will love Winterlude’s mascots, the Ice Hog family, while the older kids take to the huge winter playground.
Strap on your skates and hit the Rideau Canal Skateway, the world’s largest skating rink. Located in the center of Ottawa’s downtown area, the rink stretches nearly five miles long, providing a scenic and fun activity, bordering on an epic workout.
The rink also provides entertainment from the annual Winterlude Triathlon, bed race and newly introduced Ice Dragon Boat Race.
Expect fun entertainment for all ages including hearty cuisine and warm drinks lining the festival grounds. Embrace the colder temperatures, falling snow and icy architecture of the season and skate and slide your way into the New Year.
