In a sample size of 3,000 18–35 year olds, Contiki’s study found conclusive data revealing the long list of positive effects travel has on your teens and adult children. Travel seems to not only benefit young traveler’s confidence and self-sufficiency, but also their cultural awareness, acceptance and adaptability. For those traveling internationally, their experiences tend to have a positive impact on their personal belief in themselves —paramount in a young adult’s development.

According to the study, 75 percent of young adults surveyed have a positive perception of themselves and their place in the world after traveling. Of course, having a positive experience while traveling will reverberate into our everyday lives.

Some other findings of the study explained how young travelers tend to be more outgoing and open-minded than young adults who do not have then opportunity to travel. By endeavoring on something new, whether a trip or job, having a positive experience can boost any individual’s confidence.

According to the study, 42 percent of young travelers appear to have strong interpersonal connections and are more likely to seek out new friendships and feel more confident in new relationships. This makes them more successful in establishing a career, maintaining marketable skills, adapting to new situations, being creative, being successful in their careers and meeting new challenges.
