Travel Tips

With Father’s Day approaching, it’s time to plan the ultimate Father’s Day vacation for a twist on traditional family travel. If your dad is a fan of brews and golf, Minnesota is the place to go.

Minnesota boasts about 500 golf courses, so golf lovers should pack their clubs and spend the day (or many days) out on the links. Deacon’s Lodge at Breezy Point is one of Arnold Palmer’s best designs. The par-72 championship course offers 18 holes flowing through 500 acres of lakes, wetlands and mixed forests. This should be on everyone’s must-play list.

The leader in Minnesota golf resorts, The Classics at Madden’s offers 63 holes of golf, designed to accommodate all levels of players. The course is both challenging and stunningly beautiful.

Father-son duos should check out Minnesota’s most-awarded resort, Grand View Lodge. The resort offers two different courses, The Preserve and The Pines. The Preserve is set against both the forest and wetlands, inviting golfers to experience golf and nature together. The Pines, nestled among rich forest, offers 27 holes designed as three 9-hole landscapes at this championship par-72 course.

For families with kids over 21, grab a cold brew with Dad on a warm summer day in Minnesota. At Roundhouse Brewery in downtown Nisswa, get a behind-the-scenes tour of the brewery’s taproom to catch a glimpse of the brewing process. During the tour, guests can sample some of the beers they learn about.

Head to Big Axe Brewing for a delicious pint of beer and time connecting with the history of the railroad town. Guests can partake in nightly games, open jam sessions and food trucks.

At Cuyuna Brewing Co. enjoy a beer steeped in Cuyuna’s industrial roots while learning about the world-renowned red dirt trails and crystal-clear mine lakes.
