Destinations / North America

Seattle has one of the most recognizable skylines in the country with its iconic Space Needle towering over the city, but tucked into this bustling metropolis are some pretty unique and offbeat attractions that can entertain the whole family. Next time you are in the Emerald City try some of these quirky activities

Hit the Water

Ride the Ducks is a unique tourist attraction that takes advantage of Seattle’s unique geography. Situated on Puget Sound with plenty of lakes and waterways, the city has plenty to offer both on dry land and in the water. This land and water tour takes guests around the city on a boat with wheels to see the important sites before driving directly into Lake Union for a different perspective of the city.

Play Some Pinball

Every major city has a Chinatown and Seattle is no exception. What makes this one stand out is the Pinball Museum housed within its borders. This quirky establishment started as the personal collection of a married couple dedicated to the art of pinball. They have since turned their hobby into a public attraction where more than 50 pinball machines dating back to the 1960s are on display and available for playing. For a small entrance fee, guests can play pinball to their heart’s delight.

Kitties and Coffee

The owners of the Seattle Meowtropolitan Cat Cafe found a way to pair some of the best things in life — a good cup of coffee and a cuddly kitten. Customers can order their cat-themed beverages and pastries and enjoy them inside the cat cafe populated with friendly felines. Snuggle up with a purring kitty and a steaming hot catpuccino in the cat-friendly space complete with scratching posts. You’ll need reservations for this one since no more than 10 guests are allowed at any given time.

Shop for Stuff You Never Knew You Needed

A visit to Archie McPhee’s Novelty Shop may seem unnecessary, but only if you haven’t been there yet. Everyone in the family is sure to find something they just can’t live without. Whether you are just curious or looking for gifts for your friends back home, this shop will entertain the whole family with its weird and wonderful merchandise. Whether you are looking for a tin foil hat for your cat, bacon-flavored lip balm, a Bigfoot sweater or the world’s largest underpants, Archie McPhee will make sure your family has fun in Seattle.
