After this last year of solar eclipses, super moons and astrological wonders, families are planning early for destination trips with a view. Plan your 2019 family vacation around the total solar eclipse visible in La Serena, Chile, with the help of Tropical Sails Corp.
You may not know it from the name, but Tropical Sails Corp is an adventure travel company of the solar eclipse variety. The new tour showcases the Total Solar Eclipse July 2, 2019, while featuring surrounding cities and attractions.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes in front of the sun, totally blocking sunlight. Totality appears for just longer than two minutes if in an optimal viewing locale, appearing like a black dot (the moon) haloed by the sun’s corona.

During the new Tropical Sails tour through Chile, La Serena conveniently sits on the Pacific Coast just south of the centerline of the eclipse. This means visibility lasts longer as the closer you are to the centerline, the longer totality lasts. Guests enjoy the view from inland at a bit higher ground than at sea level.
Probabilities of seeing the 2019 eclipse is around 80 percent and above range, as projected by NASA, Chile and Argentina are some of the only landmasses to enjoy the view.
The tour lasts five days and four nights while showcasing the scenic wine region of Vina del Mar, solar eclipse in Santiago and Le Serena and the option to add on with visits to Buenos Aires and Argentina’s Iguazu Falls.
