Airport lounges can be a big benefit to traveling families. They’re a nice, quiet place to get away from the chaotic hubbub of a busy airport, making the flying experience less stressful for both kids and busy parents. Some lounges cater to families better than others, though.
There are quite a few new American Express Centurion Lounges that either opened this year or are slated to open next year at popular hubs around the country. Many include a family room, a great resource for younger children, as they can play at their leisure, without bothering the other travelers in the lounge. The family rooms are filled with fun, stimulating toys, kid-friendly seating and gaming systems.
You can find Centurion Lounges with family rooms at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, Miami International Airport, Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and Denver International Airport. The last two airports add this feature next year.
Many American Airlines Admirals Club lounges include a kids’ lounge, a much-praised amenity in the world of traveling parent bloggers. The play areas include kid-sized seating and tables, a selection of toys for every age group and a media center for older children with computers and WiFi.
You can find Admirals Club lounges with kids’ areas at Boston-Logan International, Dallas-Fort Worth International, Denver International, Los Angeles International, Miami International and New York John F.Kennedy International airports.
Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge
If you’re traveling abroad, you can find lounges that likewise cater to families with children around the world. The Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge is just one of these. It offers not only children’s rooms, but nursing rooms for infants, too, and some even have additional gaming rooms for adults, in case you want to catch up on your “Call of Duty” or play a little “Fortnite.”
Etihad Airways First Class, Premium and Arrivals Lounge
Etihad Airways offers pretty impressive perks for families throughout the entire travel experience and this is no less true when visiting one of the airline’s lounges. Etihad Family Rooms exist at most major airports the airline serves, and include fun entertainment options for all ages, with televisions, an abundance of toys and kid-friendly furnishings. Better yet, the Family Rooms are staffed by trained nannies who can watch your children while you head back to the regular lounge space for a drink.
