Check out Loreto’s Saturday Artisan Markets, held in historic Plaza Juárez, where families can experience local traditions firsthand. The plaza will be filled with craft vendors, food vendors, local musicians and sometimes even a dance performance. Children can meet and interact with local artists, put their skills to the test with pottery and weaving, and try regional dishes like tamales and fresh churros. Families can also connect with the destination’s history. Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto, built in 1967, is a symbol of the first permanent Spanish mission in the Californias. The building’s architecture and historical artifacts reflect the complex blending of Indigenous and colonial influences. Take a guided tour of the property to learn about the mission’s role in early settlement and missionary efforts through the peninsula.
