We may have barely felt the warmth of summer on our skin, but there is already a lineup of fall festivals worth planning for. Families of any age can enjoy good food, music and seasonal festivities this October, both locally and internationally.
Taste of DC in Washington, D.C.: October

Compete in chili-eating competitions and hop from food truck to food truck, tasting local and international cuisine, as well as a slew of all-ages fun citywide. Official dates and events have yet to be announced, so keep an eye on the Taste of DC website for more information, tickets and updates.
TTC Fest in Corpus Christi, Texas: Oct. 20

Cape Town International Kite Festival in Muizenberg, South Africa: October
Known as the largest kite festival in Africa, the Cape Town International Kite Festival welcomes more than 20,000 visitors each year. Watch as participants fly vibrant handmade kites and take in the incredible surrounding landscape of Muizenber, South Africa. Enjoy kite-making lessons, food and fun for all ages, live entertainment and a crafting corner on the lawn of the Zandvlei Nature Preserve.
This event is particularly special — incredible location aside — as all ticket sale proceeds go to Cape Mental Health, a non-profit organization supporting mental health and wellness in the community. Typically taking place Oct. 27–28, the kite festival will announce specific dates soon, but get ahead on planning and shoot for mid-October.
Diwali in Mumbai, India: Nov. 5–9
Head to Mumbai, India, for a family-friendly festival filled with good fortune, food and lights during Diwali, Nov. 5–9. Although Diwali is celebrated all over India with some notable festivities taking place in Jaipur, Delhi and Varanasi, Mumbai boasts some of the most popular and exciting traditions.
