Hamad International Airport is making it easier than ever for family travelers as the airport introduces dedicated screening lanes for families with younger children transferring through the airport. The lanes aim to reduce time at security checkpoints and provide staff to aid families with their belongings.
DOH plans to gather feedback and suggestions from passengers using these lanes, and then expand to other checkpoints throughout the airport. The airport remains committed to minimizing stress and wait times at the airport while providing a seamless and efficient travel experience. Hamad has already significantly reduced passenger wait times at the airport, ensuring more than 95 percent of passengers wait for less than five minutes to go through security — industry-leading levels. DOH passengers can keep electronics and liquids in hand luggage at checkpoints, which streamlined the security process and led to a 97.2 percent passenger satisfaction rate.
Hamad’s other family-friendly amenities include baby changing rooms, family bathrooms, quiet rooms with recliner eats and subdued lighting, and play areas for children. Other areas for entertainment include art installations; and the ORCHARD indoor tropical garden, with trees and plants sourced from sustainable forests around the world.
