Manhattan is always a fun place to explore, but big metropolitan cities can be a bit difficult to do with a dog. Luckily for dog parents, you can visit this popular destination without having to leave your pooch at home. With a little bit of planning, you can have a great trip with your pooch in tow so the whole family gets to enjoy the trip.
Plan your stay at a dog-friendly hotel, like Staypineapple, currently celebrating Doguary to honor our furry friends. You’ll find yourself in the heart of the Midtown neighborhood and close enough to visit many of the city’s attractions by foot, car or subway — keep in mind if you plan to take your dog on the subway, it will need to be in a bag or pet carrier and can’t disrupt other passengers. But if you don’t want to cart your pooch around the city, you can leave them in the room while out, unlike most other pet-friendly hotels.
Right across the street from Staypineapple you’ll find a dog-friendly restaurant where you can take your dog out to eat with you. Burgerology doesn’t have a pet menu, but they serve up a delicious assortment of food and beverages you can enjoy without leaving your dog back at the hotel.
But if you really want to spoil your pet and go to a restaurant that caters directly to them, head over to Boris & Horton. This café has a human dining room and a whole separate dog dining room where you can eat if you’ve got your dog with you. They offer a variety of foods and beverages for you, along with plenty of treats for your pooch. They even have a Yappy Hour.
Make sure you get out and enjoy the city’s dog-friendly spaces like Central Park, where you’ll find nearly 850 acres to explore. In addition to the massive green spaces within a concrete jungle, you’ll find plenty of dog runs where you can let your pooch off leash to run around and make friends with some of the locals. Central Park is not just one of the most famous parks in the world, it’s quintessential New York City, and exploring it is one of the must-dos for a family visiting with pets.

Icelandair is well-known for its stopover program, which allows passengers to stay in Iceland for a few days at no extra charge. It’s a great way for families to see a new place and explore a new country on their way to and from Europe. When my family travels, we enjoy spending a couple days exploring Reykjavik and Iceland’s natural beauty as part of our trip. Iceland has become one of my family’s favorite destinations. We always find something new to do, no matter how many times we visit.
