HX Expeditions Partners with Inuit Communities on New Excursions in Arctic Canada

Expedition cruise line HX Expeditions recently launched a first-of-its-kind excursion in Arctic Canada in partnership with local Inuit communities. The community-led excursions launch this summer on HX’s 26-day Northwest Passage sailings.

Crafted with guidance from Inuit elders, local residents and community-born staff, each excursion offers guests a rare opportunity to participate in the daily life, culture and traditions of Arctic Canada through the perspective of the locals. Experiences in the remote destination include guided hikes, small-group discussions with community members, fishing using traditional techniques, art-making sessions, storytelling by respected community elders, participation in community events and more.

“This kind of collaboration is exactly what’s needed in Arctic tourism. It’s encouraging to see it begin in a way that centers Inuit voices and priorities. From the community side, if this model continues to grow with care, it will strengthen the experience for both locals and visitors. Excursions are limited to 10–12 guests.
