Family travel, business travel or any type of travel can be hard after recently having children, especially for women. While plenty of places offer family-friendly perks, parents traveling without their children while breastfeeding are often overlooked or mistreated. After an incident of a woman forced to discard her pumped breast milk before going through TSA, the travel industry took action to help make traveling easier for parents.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants takes a step in the right direction with the launch of a new global program this September to support families traveling with breast milk. Through the Kimpton On Demand Family Fridge Program traveling mothers can get a Mini Me Milk Fridge put in their room upon request. The fridge is different from the conventional hotel mini-fridge, allowing parents to easily store breast milk while on property at the temperatures required by the CDC.
This program takes off in more than 70 Kimpton properties as a complimentary service in order to alleviate stress that often comes with family travel. Additionally, each property includes a dedicated fridge for employees who need to pump throughout the day.
The fridges are compact and can easily sit on a countertop in the room and are specifically qualified to maintain the proper temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit to store cold milk.
