Need a dose of cozy? Campfire Hotel even sounds snug and comfy. Set amidst a landscape of ponderosa pines in Bend, Oregon, it’s the perfect base for family travelers’ wintery escapes to explore nearby sights including High Desert Museum, Tin Pan Theatre and Tower Theatre.

On view until July 7, 2024, High Desert Museum’s current exhibition is Endangered in the High Desert, exploring how pygmy rabbits, Oregon spotted frogs and other local species are facing extinction.

There’s also a First Friday Art Walk hosted by Downtown Bend with live music and plenty of local art. The hotel is an easy distance from the snowy playgrounds of Mt. Bachelor and its Skyliner Express six-pack chairlift. It’s also near Hoodoo Ski Area, spanning more than 800 acres of terrain that includes the West Coast’s largest tubing park, night skiing, snowmobiling, Nordic trails and snowshoe tracks.

Back at Campfire Hotel, settle in by the firepit with your family and roast s’mores. From Tuesday to Sunday, adults can sip cocktails and seasonal drink treats at Canteen Bar, such as a Spanish Coffee, Rosemary Hot Toddy or the Signature Campfire Old Fashioned.

When it’s time for bed, families can dream the night away in the Happy Camper suite, which sleeps up to six and is equipped with a microwave; minifridge; a full living room with smart television; a second bedroom with two sets of bunk beds; and eco-friendly, spa-level bath amenities in the bathroom. In the kitchen area, guests will find a gooseneck kettle and locally roasted Backporch coffee.

Many riverside cities offer scenic cruises, and some Baltic or Mediterranean ports have daytrips to nearby islands or coastal attractions.
