Travel gear brand Eminent recently revealed the results of its report on the most affordable family-friendly beach destinations in Europe.
The top 10 affordable European beach destinations this year are:
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Málaga, Spain
- Porto, Portugal
- Split, Croatia
- Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
- Varna, Bulgaria
- Valencia, Spain
- Trieste, Italy
- Thessaloniki, Greece
- Larnaca, Cyprus
Lisbon ranked highest on the list due in part to its high number of kid-friendly attractions. This, combined with all other factors, gave the city a perfect affordability score. Of the top 10 cities, Varna offers the most affordable nightly accommodation cost. Valencia boasts the most beaches, with more than 12 miles of shore. Thessaloniki ranked highest for number of family-friendly accommodations available.
The study compared more than 20 beach destinations in Europe across several key factors, including average accommodation costs, number of easily accessible family-friendly attractions, average meal prices for a family, safety and more.
“Kids on holiday don’t want to sit still, and they want to try the boat trip, the aquarium, and the local market and then ask what’s next. For parents, that enthusiasm is great until you’re doing the mental math on how much the day is actually costing. Cities that have a lot of family-friendly things to do at low or no cost take a real amount of pressure off,” said a travel consultant from Eminent.
