Philadelphia is abuzz with excitement over the hometown heroes and league underdogs; the Eagles make their way to Minneapolis for Super Bowl LII. If you’re in the Philadelphia area this weekend, stop in some of these patriotic establishments for special Eagles-themed cuisine.
Kick off Super Bowl weekend with brunch and a spirited cocktail at Pub & Kitchen. The Rittenhouse Square gastropub offers it’s take on the Bloody Mary, the Bleeding Green Bloody Mary made with cucumber, green apple, spinach, parsley, fresh horseradish, hot sauce, black pepper and vodka.
Looking for something savory? Enjoy a broccolini cheesesteak from Rooster Soup Co., on Sansom Street. The veggie-based sandwich is a healthy, green, team-spirited version of the local favorite.
Support the underdogs with a classic-Philly treat, pretzel bites. Stop in any local Philly Pretzel Factory for soft bone-shaped pretzel bites.
Beloved Rittenhouse Square takeout restaurant, Mac Mart, took the underdog status literally with its underdog mac & cheese option. Mac Mart offers cheese-covered hotdogs representing our own local underdogs.
For something sweet, head to Dottie’s Donuts for the infamous greased-pole treat —invented specially for the occasion. The vegan pastry shop recreated an Eagles fan climbing a greased pole to celebrate the passionate fans of Philadelphia.
Another beloved donut factory in Philadelphia, Federal Donuts offers classic cake donuts decorated in green and silver for the big game. Pair those donuts with some Foles-gers coffee from Reanimator in Old Kensington.
Treat the kids to some Super Bowl Sundaes from Weckerley’s Ice Cream on Feb. 4 in Fishtown. Grab a basket of waffle cone chips with homemade cinnamon ice cream and avocado lime sorbet topped with mascarpone whipped cream, dark chocolate shavings and fresh strawberry sauce.
Head to Old City’s classic ice-cream shop and neighboring candy confectionary, Franklin Fountain and Shane Confectionery, for novelty football-shaped ice cream pops made with green mint ice cream — for obvious reasons — and green candies.
From ice cream and donuts to coffee and hotdogs, the city of Brotherly Love is ready for Super Bowl LII. And, as WhereverFamily is based just outside Philadelphia, we’re all saying, “Fly Eagles Fly!”
