The Presidential train once hosted royalty, presidents, heads of state and popes for more than 100 years. Built in the late 1800s, the original railway transported Queen Elizabeth II, Pope Paul VI and served as the Portuguese Royal Train for the court of King D. Luis I. The Presidential retired in 1970, until it was completely restored to its original opulent and luxurious condition in 2010.
