China Airlines recently unveiled a Pokémon-themed aircraft called the Pikachu Jet CI2 in partnership with The Pokémon Company. Family travelers flying either between Taoyuan (TPE) and Tokyo (NRT) or Taoyuan and Seattle (SEA) will board this themed aircraft.
The plane will also feature 13 Pokémon characters in the fuselage, led by Hoppip, who heralds the arrival of spring, alongside Flying Pikachu and Jumpluff. Dratini can be seen riding on Dragonite’s back, while Beautifly and Vivillon spread their wings, nodding to Taiwan’s reputation as the “Butterfly Kingdom.” Look for Swablu and Altaria, as well as Skipbloom, Cresselia and Clefairy, too. And be sure to search for Pokémon hidden in the plane’s intricate tile patterns.
Kids will find Pokémon extends even to the onboard amenities, from the dining tray mat, mixed nuts and themed paper cups to the headrest cover and pillowcases. Additionally, every passenger will receive a Pikachu ballpoint pen or sticky notes.
The two inaugural flights with the themed aircraft begin April 2.
Looking ahead, China Airlines will introduce these themed onboard amenities on other select flights to destinations like Phoenix (PHX), Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL), Brisbane (BNE), Auckland (AKL), Osaka (KIX) and Bangkok (BKK).
