Cruising

Turn your next family vacation into an educational, informative and interactive adventure with a trip to UNESCO World Heritage site the Galapagos Islands. The International Galapagos Tour Operators Association launched a newly appointed program supporting Galapagos Conservation onboard participating cruise operators. The new initiative is only available on exclusive cruise lines supporting the IGTOA’s mission to preserve and protect the Galapagos Islands.

Across 14 cruise vessels, accommodating approximately 10,000 guests, the program allows travelers the opportunity to donate to the program while educating guests on the importance of wildlife conservation and preserving the Galapagos Islands, including the wide variety of species making up the island’s ecosystem.

By offering the educational program onboard select vessels, guests are able to make a meaningful contribution to the conservation project as well as further their understanding of the environment. The ultimate goal of the program is to consistently raise funds and spread awareness to travelers.

By booking a Galapagos cruise with Ecoventura, Haugan Cruises, Andean Travel Company and Latin Trails, guests will be able to participate in the program supported by the World Wildlife Fund – Ecuador. Participating cruise companies remove the overhead from the project, allowing 100 percent of the proceeds donated on the cruise to go directly to conservation efforts. The new initiative will feature expert tours and informational packets for interested tourists.

The importance of preserving wildlife, protecting our environment and educating young travelers is paramount in our changing climate, both environmentally speaking and politically.

The Galapagos Islands, located 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, are one of the world’s most pristine and unique archipelagos. The Galapagos are home to hundreds of unique species only found on the island that face the constant threat of poaching, illegal fishing and invasive species — all greatly impacting the island’s development and survival.

On your next adventure vacation, opt for an island adventure on the Galapagos. Educate your family on the island’s history and incredible wildlife that inspired Darwin’s famous natural selection theory. Get the kids engaged in eco-conservation efforts while actively educating them on our precious environment and wildlife.
