Travel Tips

There is a new trend for family travelers: Planuary. A recent survey from point.me found 61 percent of travelers will book their 2026 travel in the first two months of the year. Planning travel in January and February equals Planuary.

The beginning of the year is a great time to book for peak fares, new credit card bonuses and other deals. It also gives travelers something to look forward to, as stated by 32 percent of those polled. Travelers are interested in better pricing and availability (20 percent) and post-holiday deals (16 percent).

Airlines typically open booking windows about 330 days in advance. Booking in late January or early February essentially gives travelers access to options for the entire year. For cash flights, the best fares are typically available anywhere from three to 11 months out for international travel and three–eight months for domestic travel. Given this, summer travel and December travel are perfect for Planuary bookings. Thanks to holiday shopping, credit card points are becoming available. It is also a good time to open a new credit card and maximize annual benefits like travel credits and welcome bonus points.

Visit the website for more information about the survey.

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.
