When travel plans are booked and special events proceed despite the recent public health concerns, those who can fly private, will — families included.

With commercial airlines scaling back routes and everyone trying to avoid high-populace locales like airports, the private jet industry soars above the rest.

One such charter company seeing an influx, FlyBLACK is a New York-based flight service welcoming a broader range of passengers than ever before. Clients, both new and reoccurring, are changing travel plans to fly private in an attempt to avoid contracting any illnesses.

“We’ve seen a noticeable spike in demand as the impacts of the coronavirus grow,” said Sami Belbase, co-founder & CEO, FlyBLACK. “It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen, and we’re working hard to accommodate the needs of travelers, many who are new to the charter jet market.”

With more than 3,000 aircraft in service, guests can fly on demand worldwide or hop on verified empty legs. Clients can also take advantage of special deals for a fraction of the original price.

“FlyBLACK is poised to rise to the challenge of helping clients secure the flights they need, in spite of a global travel crisis,” said Suman Desai, FlyBLACK. “Private charter gives clients and their families the opportunity to still travel while decreasing the risk of being exposed to the coronavirus.”

Another private jet charter seeing an influx in passengers, LunaJets, one of the leading flight services in Europe, is meeting a much higher demand.

“We noticed a sharp rise in demands for business jet charter services. Over the last days, inquiries increased by 45 percent YoY,” said Alain Leboursier, head of sales and development, LunaJets.

Travelers and families with the means to travel private are continuing to do so, and in droves. With far less exposure and public contact than in airports and commercial airline cabins, private jet charter flights are seeing business from families, businesses, emergency evacuation flights and even cargo charters.

While the actual flight may be less risk for contracting an illness, remember to make sure your family is healthy enough to fly and ask yourselves a few questions: Is the destination you’re traveling to a safe zone? Do you feel comfortable traveling and potentially having your trip extended due to health concerns? Can this trip wait or is this essential?

6 Stroller-Friendly Cities in Europe

Families traveling with young children learn to be creative in getting strollers into seemingly impossible places. Some cities confound even the most determined parents: Innumerable bridges with steps are a challenge in Venice, and Lisbon’s hills seem insurmountable. Narrow or rough stone-paved streets are not stroller-friendly, either. Save those cities for another year and consider these instead.
