Young Writers launched the Write to Unite campaign, encouraging creative writers to take to the written word to help raise the nation’s spirits. By stepping away from reality and taking a stab at creative writing, we (and the kids) can let our imaginations run wild — a great escape and even better creative outlet when stuck at home.
The Write to Unite campaign invites children and adults of all ages to spread positivity by writing stories, poetry, letters and more to loved ones, workers on the frontlines or whomever they please — even if the written work is just for the author.
Established in 1991, Young Writers encourages young (even at heart) people to express themselves through creative writing. The organization works with schools, parents, guardians and more to engage young, would-be writers.
“This is an extremely difficult time for everyone across the country. Writing can be a great way to express how you feel, and for children and adults alike it’s important to come together to express a positive message,” said Morgan Walton, director, Young Writers.
Another plus, Write to Unite is free. All ages and interests can take part in the campaign by visiting the website or viewing the trailer here to get started.
Once young writers get going, they can spread the knowledge on social media using #writetounite to nominate up to three friends to do the same and get writing.
Kids and parents, think of it as an easy way to express your thoughts and opinions, jot down your best late-night ideas, early-morning epiphanies, crazy stories and really anything else you can think of and need a written release for — it’s a perfect time to do a few things you never had time to before.
