Families traveling to Madrid with children will find kid-friendly hotels near all the best places to visit. Family-sized rooms and apartments, some with babysitting services, don’t need to break the budget, with prices as low as $150 a night for four people. Because some of these have a limited number of family rooms, for the best selection, be sure to reserve as early as possible.
With a prime location on the Paseo del Prado, a few steps from Retiro Park, Petit Palace Lealtad has large room sleeping as many as six at a time. The hotel is in a small former palace, and rooms reflect its heritage with simple elegance and a flair for design; no cookie-cutter rooms here. Retiro Park is filled with wonders for children: playgrounds, fountains, a crystal palace and plenty of room to run. For an art fix, the hotel is surrounded by Madrid’s top museums. Rates begin below $200.
Close to the Royal Palace and overlooking its extensive gardens, ApartoSuites Jardines de Sabatini has several family-friendly amenities. Babysitting is available, as are laundry facilities. The apartments have kitchens and a grocery store is an easy walk away. Breakfast is included in the rates, which begin at about $200.
Another 19th-century palace-turned-hotel is a short walk from Plaza Mayor. Catalonia Las Cortes still retains its elegant frescoed ceilings, and the traditionally decorated rooms make kids feel they’re staying in a palace. The hotel has something to please everyone: Free snacks all day for the kids and babysitting so parents can enjoy an occasional evening on their own.
Handy for late arrivals and early departures, Fly Rooms Madrid Airport has all the necessities and a few frills, like free WiFi. Some rooms also have kitchenettes and microwaves. Right at the Madrid Barajas International Airport, the guest house is also handy to direct transit link to Atocha Station and the city center. A room for four begins at about $150.
