Why should Will, Kate and their brood have all the fun? If you have the money and time, you can vacation just like the royals in these fun destinations.
Take a blast to the past when you visit this Austrian property that’s everything vintage Swiss Alps. The luxurious digs hosted Princess Diana, Will and Harry when they were much younger.
You don’t have to leave the country to vacation like royals, though. The historic Williamsburg Inn in Virginia hosted Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip not once, but twice, in 1957 and 2007.
Prince William and Princess Kate booked a stay at Taj Mahal Palace during their previous royal tour. The Mumbai property features ornate accommodations and amenities. Even if you can’t quite justify the cost of the royal couple’s stay in the 1,500-square-foot Rajput Suite, you’ll have just as lovely a time in one of the other guestrooms.
Just as Princess Diana frequently got away with her boys, so did Prince Charles. He took William and Harry to Fairmont Chateau Whistler in 1998 for its relaxation mixed with tons of outdoor adventure opportunities.
This private island among the British Virgin Islands owned by Sir Richard Branson played host to not only royals (Princess Diana, Will and Harry visited in 1990), but American royalty as well (including the Obamas). You can book the entire island for yourself and your family if you’re willing to cough up a hefty sum.
Similarly, there’s another private island in the Caribbean favorited by royals: Les Jolies Eaux villa, situated on a three-mile island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is owned by Princess Margaret. You can rent out her space from $18,000 per week during the low season, and stay next door to other famous faces such as Mick Jagger.
If your travel budget is slightly smaller, you can vacation among other European royalty with a stay at the Poseidonion Grand in Greece. The property is situated on the “island of perfumes” or Spetses, a secluded and car-free destination that hosts the Greek royal family each summer.
Back in the States, you can book an L.A. stay at the iconic luxury property, Beverly Hills Hotel. In addition to Prince William and Princess Kate’s stay during their first tour of the Untied States, the hotel hosted Princess Margaret, Prince Albert II of Monaco and others.
