If you’re wondering how to discuss racism and the current state of our country and world with your children, CNN and Sesame Street will host a town hall presentation to address the issue of racism and it may help you start a dialogue with your children about these important topics. It could also serve as a useful addition to some tough conversations many families are already having. The 60-minute special, Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism, will air tomorrow, Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. EST on CNN.
The town hall special will be a resource for kids and families. It will educate all ages on racism, discuss recent nationwide protests, celebrate diversity and delve into how everyone can be more understanding, empathetic and accepting.
Big Bird, CNN commentator Van Jones and CNN anchor and national correspondent Erica Hill will moderate the event — expect to see many Sesame Street characters join in the discussion, including Elmo, Rosita and Abby Cadabby. The show will also enlist the help of experts to answer questions submitted by families (link here to ask a question).
CNN and Sesame Street previously hosted a town hall in April, discussing COVID-19, which can be viewed here.
The town hall special also streams live here, on mobile devices with CNN’s apps and on CNNgo.
