If you are a lover of thrill rides and rollercoasters, you better start thinking about a future trip to test out some new ones in Orlando, Florida’s, theme parks. Throughout the next year, some theme parks are expecting a number of thrilling additions and experiences for willing guests. From two long-anticipated coasters slated to open next year in Walt Disney World to a yet-to-be-announced Jurassic Park roller coaster set to open in Universal Orlando, thrill-seekers and coaster fanatics will be in awe.
Within the next two years Walt Disney World Resort will add two new rollercoasters to its parks. In Magic Kingdom, Tron Lightcycle Run is set to open in 2021. The new rollercoaster is set right next to the iconic Space Mountain and will be based off the Tron Lightcycle Power Run coaster at Shanghai Disney. The ride will put passengers on a motorbike-type seat designed after the vehicles from the Tron films.
The next coaster to hit Walt Disney World, replacing the Universe of Energy pavilion in EPCOT, is expected to be open sometime in 2021. The new rollercoaster will be based off the hit series Guardians of the Galaxy and will be called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The ride will follow Peter Quill (Starlord) and the gang on an adventure to save the galaxy.
Although Universal has yet to officially announce the new rollercoaster coming to the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure, construction on the area began with some of the coaster’s track laid. The new coaster is rumored to be named Velocicoaster and is expected to be Universal’s most thrilling rollercoaster yet. The ride will feature a multi-launch and is designed to reach speeds of 70 mph.
