Virtual learning just got far more interesting with Virginia Beach, Virginia’s, new Surf, Sand & Study program, available through March 2021. From the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, it encourages families to explore the area’s history, outdoor activities, educational opportunities and the arts.

The program includes exclusive offers via a downloadable passport at more than 50 area businesses for adventures like zip lining, surfing, eco-tours, fishing charters and more. Learn with visits to Virginia Beach museums, the aquarium and family-friendly classes and interactive experiences. The promotion also includes shopping perks, entertainment options and discounts on dining and lodging,

The Surf, Sand & Study program includes 25–50 percent off daily and weekly rentals at Cherie’s Bike & Blade Rentals; kayak or stand-up paddleboard tours at VP Surf Sessions; and a Breakout Physical Education program at Virginia Beach Sports Center. Discounts of 10–20 percent are available in the museum store at Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum; at Virginia Arts Festival; at Fun Funky Mixed Media; and more. Lodging options offering savings, resort credits and value-adds include Delta Hotels Virginia Beach Bayfront Suites and Cavalier Hotel & Beach Club.

A Distance Learning Guide, also available, is full of ideas for making remote learning fun.

“The Surf, Sand & Study initiative is ideal for staycations and flexible work-from-home situations. It lets families experience remote learning in a beautiful and accessible outdoor classroom in a highly affordable, safe and hassle-free way,” said Tiffany M. Russell, vice president, marketing and communications, Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We feel as if we are returning lost vacations to people who have been cooped up all summer with this great opportunity to enjoy family learning in a unique coastal environment.”
