Theme parks are a great way to escape reality as most offer different worlds in each section. Guests can explore different worlds, from their favorite TV show and movie franchises to much-loved video games. Mario and friends have been beloved video-game favorites for decades, and they finally get their own section of Universal Studios Japan.
Step out of reality and into the world of Mario games, where children and adults can feel a need for speed with Race with Mario. Enjoy a real-life Mario Kart and go along with Mario, Princess Peach and the gang for a wild ride. Race to the finish and beat the enemy with different power ups with the world’s first Mario Kart experience of its kind.
Next, embark on an adventurous journey with Yoshi. Follow Captain Toad, while riding on Yoshi’s back, and set off on a treasure hunt adventure. Explore Mushroom Kingdom while keeping an eye out for three magical eggs hidden around the kingdom. Help Yoshi and Captain Toad find the eggs before it’s too late.
When you purchase a Power Up Band, the theme park really comes to life. With the band, guests can explore the vast world of Mario and compete in key challenges, collect coins and digital stamps. Link the Power Up Band to the Universal Studios Japan app and keep track of your score and how many coins and stamps you’ve collected. Once you’ve completed all the challenges and collected three keys, battle Bowser Jr. to defeat him and replace the stolen Golden Mushroom.
Once you are all played out, stop by Kinopio’s House for a delicious meal and visit the shops to stock up on all your favorite Mario and friends merchandise.
Although there is no exact release date yet due to COVID-19 protocols, Super Nintendo World is set to open sometime this year. For more information, visit Universal Studios Japan’s website.
