Cruise lines with their own private islands is nothing new, but there is big news for Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s island in the Bahamas. The island is a popular stop on the cruise line’s Caribbean itineraries, and guests get to enjoy pristine white sands, water sports, good food and refreshing drinks, and, very soon, a brand-new waterpark.
Great Tides Waterpark will open Sept. 4 during a sailing of NCLs newest ship, Luna. The park will feature 19 waterslides, cliff jumps (a first for the waterpark industry), a splash zone and an 800-plus-foot wandering river and, of course, plenty of food and beverage options and even private cabanas if you want to enjoy a little privacy at the park. In other words, Great Tides will be the perfect place for a day of family fun in the Caribbean.
The waterpark will span nearly 6 acres and is now available to book day passes on sailings from Sept. 4 onward — advanced reservations will be required. Great Stirrup Cay will be available year-round on multiple NCL itineraries from ports like New York, Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa and Orlando.
Of course, NCL’s ships have so much to do onboard some families never even leave the boat during a cruise, but Great Tides is the perfect opportunity to set foot on the soft sands of the Caribbean while knowing you’ll be in good hands the whole time.
