In such a tourist-driven destination as Jamaica, it is easy to plan a tropical beach vacation with the family, while enjoying all-inclusive resort perks and the added fun of local culture. You may be able to drive from one end of Jamaica to the other in five hours, but there is plenty to do along the way. Begin in Montego Bay, capital city of St. James Parish and home to protected waters, coral reef repair projects, beautiful beaches and calm tranquil waters.
Once your family lands in Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, you’ll be able to arrange a car to your resort, but scope out a few top spots to visit along the way. Once you arrive at your hotel, be sure to discuss excursion options with your concierge and arrange for transportation, guides and any activities they can suggest.

Once the most famous beaches in Montego Bay, Doctor’s Cave Beach is a fun destination for families to enjoy a casual beach party. Float on inflatable rafts on the water with a cocktail while the kids bounce on the sea trampoline and relax in the sun.
The nightlife, live music and vibrant dance scene in Jamaica is difficult to ignore. Look out for special events and dance parties at your resort or surrounding area during your stay or ask your concierge for local hot spots where you can hear live music, dance and enjoy some Rastafarian vibes.
Jerk Cuisine
Take a car from the airport into downtown Montego Bay and take in the brightly painted shops, restaurants and hotels. Your driver will have a few suggestions of where you should eat, but definitely try the Pig Pit. The local favorite doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s worth a visit.
Take a tour through the restored, slightly haunted mansion of Rose Hall. Walk along the incredibly creaky floors, exploring the old house and listening to your expert guide detail the incredible, while slightly fabricated, history of the plantation. Hear all about the late mistress Annie Palmer, more commonly known as the White Witch.
Book an adventure tour through Montego Bay and take in the beautiful surroundings by zip line, sail boat or Jeep. There is so much to see, do and a lot of land to cover and a professional tour is the best way to try it all.
