Travel Tips

One aspect of travel we should all be more conscious of is our safety. GeoSure, a leader in worldwide safety assessment, focuses on exactly that — personal safety from your local neighborhood to the far corners of the Earth.

A helpful tool for all travelers to have, GeoSure presents safety ratings via iPhone and Android mobile phone apps, based on global data. GeoSure research uses innovative technology compiling current safety ratings, daily information, predictive analytics and AI — all calculating location-specific, safety-level rankings, known as GeoSafeScores.

These scores provide users with an analytic understanding of any possible at-risk locations, projected “safer” regions and varied destinations in between. The GeoSafeScores break down relative safety for travelers of all ages, race, gender, creed and sexual orientation across more than 30,000 locations.

After being the first technology of its kind to develop a female travel safety measure, GeoSure is now the first localized, real-time safety awareness tool designed for LGBTQ+ travelers. Whether vacationing with friends, family, solo or your partner, having a helpful guide to ideal destinations for business, leisure and education, GeoSure focuses on providing users with a better understanding of their surroundings and a guide to a smoother travel experience for everyone.

As part of this new specialized safety feature, GeoSure announced the Top 5 Safest Global Urban Neighborhoods for LGBTQ Travelers with the help of its user-friendly interface, scoring safety levels 1–100 — lower scores mean a safer neighborhood.

According to recent data, GeoSafeScores gave the following cities the lowest and safest ratings for LGBTQ+ travelers:

  1. The Castro district in San Francisco, score: 17
  2. Berlin’s Schöneberg neighborhood, score: 24
  3. Amsterdam’s Centrum neighborhood, score: 27
  4. Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood, score: 30
  5. Tel Aviv’s City Center, Florentin neighborhood, score: 31

While the neighborhoods may be more specific than your current travel plans, what better excuse to visit a new locale on your next trip? The word “safe” can mean something different to everyone, but by GeoSure’s terms, it’s defined as the “likelihood of harm or discrimination against LGBTQ persons or groups and level of caution required at location.”

By focusing on the safety needs of the travel, you can rest a bit easier in your vacation plans while going off the predictive technology of GeoSure. With most AI technology, the idea is the system will learn and provide even more specific, accurate and detailed safety measures with time.
